LSMSA has participated in the Louisiana Regional Science Bowl for the past 6 years. The regional tournament is held in New Orleans typically in the first of February. The major sponsors are the Dept. of Energy/Strategic Petroleum Reserve and DynMcDermott. Competing against 20 or more schools from the N.O./Baton Rouge area, LSMSA has posted an impressive record of 3 first place finishes and 2 second place finishes over this 6 year span. In recognition of the students who have led the way for 1st place finishes for LSMSA and established our reputation of a school to be feared:

'94 Jennifer Benoit, Gerry Guidry, Vishal Gupta, Joseph Henry, Stephen Henry. This team went on to Nationals and posted a 5th place finish.

'97 Abbey Abreo, Mike Chen, Mike Hochberg, Chris Lin, Stephanie O'Brien. This team placed in the top 10 at Nationals.

'99 Liz Anderson, Gary Chan, David Lambeth, Teresa Shyr, Josh Tremblay. This team placed in the top 10 at Nationals.

With several returning students from last year's "B" Team which posted some impressive wins at the '99 tournament, LSMSA hopes to make a repeat championship.
