COURSE CONTENT

This course will concentrate on consolidating and widening the knowledge of German already attained, whereby the acquisition of a considerable amount of vocabulary as well as a mastery of German syntax will be emphasized. Classroom activities will include dictation, oral translation, prepared oral reports followed by class discussion.

 

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Homework assignments, consisting of written or oral work, must be completed by the next class meeting. Assignments turned in late will not be accepted, except in the case of an excused absence.

 

GRADING

Daily homework assignments, quizzes and class participation will count for one-third of the semester grade. Three examinations, given approximately every four weeks, (the weeks of 17 Sep., 15 Oct., 12 Nov.) and an essay written in German will count for one-third of the semester grade. The final examination will count for a third of the semester grade. All exams are cumulative.

A=90%-100%, B=80%-89%, C=70%-79%, D=below 70%

 

ATTENDANCE

The attendance policy as specified in the Academic Handbook applies here. Additionally, any work missed as a result of an unexcused absence or unexcused tardiness will receive a grade of “0”.
